This Feminist-led day of action will draw a huge crowd which will jam cell service and create unreliable WiFi (if you can find it). Utilizing BUDDY, marchers will remain both 100% anonymous with encrypted messaging (no Stingrays can track you, here!) and be able to communicate with their group no matter the circumstances.

It's a guaranteed private network for you and your added buddies.

TLDR: BUDDY is fully encrypted and will delete all March data so you stay completely anonymous.

We hope you will spend your March enjoying the vibes and exercising your first amendment rights OFF your phone, but if anything happens where you need to connect to your group, you will be covered no matter what.

FAQ

  • Points of Interest Spots.png

BUDDY is a first of it's kind social utility app that gets people off... their phones.

We have donated our tech and services to People's March and other large scale cause-related events to keep people safe.

Let's be real, it's a wild time out there (meaning, the world) and we know that even at the most well planned events, things can go sideways. We're here to help. In the worst of times, you will be able to connect to your group, and in the best of times, you can rally your friends around something fun you see on the ground IRL.

  • The short answer: Bluetooth! So make sure it's on :)

The long answer: BUDDY is a one-of-a-kind patented technology that automatically finds the fastest way to send messages. Sometimes (like in the event of an emergency or huge crowds) that is via Bluetooth. Bluetooth messaging from phone to phone is capped at a distance, but the cool part about BUDDY is that your message can bounce between phones to go an unlimited distance. TLDR: the more people using BUDDY in a crowd the more reliable the Bluetooth connection. And yes, it's totally safe from hackers.

  • BUDDY is a social utility app NOT social media where your whereabouts can be broadcast to anyone. BUDDY only works with friends you explicitly add to your group, meaning you have to add and accept everyone.
It is a private network with end-to-end encrypted messaging. Our primary focus is to make sure you are safe while you are exercising your first amendment rights. If you have any specific questions please do not hesitate to reach out to us via email.

  • Only BUDDY has access to your data while you are using the app. It's important to note that your data from the day of the March will be 100% removed after the 30 day period required by law. Don't worry, this does NOT mean that anyone will have access to your March activities and conversations are still 100% encrypted.

  • BUDDY retains data for 30 days in compliance with privacy laws like GDPR and CCPA, which require verification of permanent deletion. This period also allows BUDDY to:

    • Address legal or regulatory requirements, such as disputes or investigations.

    • Ensure all data is securely removed from backend systems, including backups.

    • Support users who may need to recover data due to accidental deletion.

After 30 days, all data is permanently deleted, committing to user privacy and security.

  • In the unlikely event of a large scale emergency, please reference your map and identify the medic tent and all exits marked in the map. Once you are in a position of physical safety, call 911. After that, our best recommendation is to use the chat function or use a "Loop" inside the app where you are able to drop a location for your friends to find you. Remember, no one outside your buddy list can see ANYTHING you post inside your own community.
